Church Planting in Chicago

I will be joining a team of 16 Southeasterners March 27 – April 3, 2010 in downtown Chicago to engage the people of the city with the Gospel and recon a specific neighborhood targeted already by two members of the team for a church plant next spring.
Some facts: The Greater Metro Chicago area is home to over nine million people including approximately 2,000 people groups speaking over 200 languages. Evangelical churches claim only 5.5 percent of the population (only 1 percent Southern Baptist). Of Chicago’s 50,000+ college students, nearly 98 percent are unengaged by any evangelical presence.
Officially: With the help of field partners and church planters in Chicago, students, led by Dr. Mike Dodson of SEBTS, will engage in witnessing, service projects, and various other ministry opportunities through a variety of ministry settings and cultural dynamics.
